The art box measures 16x10.5x5" when closed. It was hand-crafted of wood with original hinges, clasp, and leather handle still attached, age unknown. Paint splatters and lots of patina are evidence of age. The box opens to reveal two vintage plush animals--a dog and a hand-crocheted bear, ages unknown. With newly added backdrops of decoupaged paper, each stuffed animal is gently worn by years of being snuggled. Small gold hooks are attached on each side of the box on which the stuffed animals attach. Buyer could easily remove the animals for play and/or replace them with another personal beloved childhood toy. The box can rest closed on a shelf as a decoration, stand upright when opened as shelf decor, or be separated into two "frames" to be placed on shelves or hung on the wall. A great addition to a child's room, particularly with an animal theme. Would look so cute on a book shelf as a book end or decoration.
