click to view gallery“I wanted to create a fun and playful piece involving the image of an artichoke. I attached the names of the different parts of the human heart to the artichoke, jokingly implying that they might both function in the same way. The image is a silkscreen print, executed in 13 color layers with a loose and painterly touch.”
Alison Sahmel lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She attended Pratt Institute and received her Master’s of Fine Arts Degree in Printmaking. She currently works as a chromist for Pace Editions. Her work has been exhibited at Nurture Art and the International Print Center, New York.
